Sunday afternoon we made an expedition to the Andy Warhol Museum, located in the shadow of Three Rivers Stadium. The museum features eight floors of art either by or inspired by the groundbreaking modern artist, including cow-head wallpaper, huge skull paintings, portraits of popular figures, and the inevitable Campbell's Soup Cans. Perhaps the highlight of the exhibit was Warhol's "Silver Clouds", a room filled with silver Mylar pillows with approximatly the same buoyancy as the ambient air. We took pictures of one another playing with the pillows as they floated around the room like clouds, or took self-portraits of our reflections on their silver surfaces. In this picture, Stuart Whitby struggles to make his way across a room filled with gently floating silver clouds. | |
