The final stop on our trip up the Old Mission Peninsula was at the aptly-named Old Mission Lighthouse, which stands "pretty close to" the 45th parallel. We actually discovered that the real 45th parallel is about 50 yards offshore, but you can get out there by walking along a stone breakwater. The lighthouse itself wasn't particularly interesting, but it was cool to stand on the margin of Lake Michigan and appreciate its immensity. | |
