Although we didn't actually get out on Lake Michigan, Grand Traverse Bay, or Lake Leelanau, they were constant companions throughout the weekend, contributing to the relaxed pace we took this year. At one point, we actually debated whether to spend our evening driving into Traverse City to catch the new Star Wars movie on opening day, but decided that wasn't how we wanted to spend our time together in Michigan. By spending more time at the lodge, we had the opportunity instead to take a casual stroll down by the lakeside and admire some of the cottages, as well as the view.
