Here Jim Owens demonstrates one reason why hosting a Summit at your house might be a bad idea: because people will go through your stuff and find all the strange things you own, like the wooden wolverine claws that Liam keeps handy. Jim slept in on Friday morning, while the more ambitious of us made an early trip to First Watch for a hearty breakfast; perhaps too hearty for someone whose eyes are bigger than his stomach, although no names will be named nor fingers pointed. We returned to the house and kicked of Friday's working sessions. Among the planned activities were a number of "white papers", where a writer presented to us the results of some research they did. Jim -- in his usual animated fashion -- gave a great talk about medieval ships and shipping. He described their main uses -- transportation, fishing, and warfare -- the various types of ships, their methods of propulsion, and what life was like on board. | |
